The Foxies

NOTHING TRULY DIES IN A GOTH DISCO … ESPECIALLY NOT ROCK. BY NOW, THE SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY THAT ROCK IS DEAD IS ALL TOO FAMILIAR – AND ALL TOO CLICHÉ. BUT YOU’LL FIND NO EVIDENCE FOR IT WITH THE FOXIES. A MODERN POWER TRIO BUILT ON THRASHING PUNK ENERGY AND THE HYPNOTIC PAGEANTRY OF ELECTRONIC POP, THE FOXIES FERAL BRAND OF ROCK IS JUST NOW EMERGING, DESPITE MORE THAN HALF A DECADE OF RESTLESS PROWLING. THEY’VE ALREADY BUILT A LOYAL FOLLOWING THROUGH EUPHORIC LIVE SHOWS AND SNARLING, SELF-STYLED RECORDINGS, PREACHING EMPOWERMENT AND SHARP-TOOTHED INDIVIDUALITY AT MAXIMUM VOLUME. BUT WITH THE NEW EP, GROWING UP IS DEAD, THEY’VE FOUND A BRAVE NEW CREATIVE FOCUS – EVIDENCE THAT ROCK ‘N’ ROLL IS VERY MUCH ALIVE. “I THINK ROCK’S JUST BEEN SLEEPING FOR A BIT, AND IT’S ABOUT TIME TO WAKE THE BEAR,” SAYS FRONT WOMAN AND BAND FOUNDER, JULIA LAUREN BULLOCK. “AND RIGHT NOW WE HAVE A VERY POINTY STICK.” CONCEIVED IN ARIZONA BUT BORN IN NASHVILLE WITH THE ADDITION OF GUITARIST JAKE OHLBAUM AND DRUMMER ROB BODLEY…

Katie Pruitt

The debut album from Katie Pruitt, Expectations is a glowingly detailed collection of real-life stories, a courageous document of coming of age in a sometimes-unwelcoming world. With a narrative voice at turns poetic and unaffected, the Georgia-bred singer/songwriter/guitarist treads endlessly complex emotional ground: mental illness, toxic relationships, the frustration and shame of growing up gay in the Christian South. But by speaking her truth with sensitivity and grit, Pruitt ultimately arrives at a self-acceptance that’s both hard-won and happily defiant.

Calum Busby

Calum Busby is a songwriter and performer from Edinburgh,Scotland based in Barcelona. Calum blends his Celtic Indie Rock stylings with a scathing wit that takes a self-deprecating sideways glance at current social issues and the quirky contradictions that often inhabit them. His songs are full of passion and vulnerability, often bouncing from moments of raucous intensity to dulcet tranquility in just a strum of the guitar. Calum’s influences are rooted in the genres of Alternative Indie Rock and Folk. His lyrics borrow from the soulful yet irreverent energy of artists such as Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and John Lennon while tapping into the cinematic and hair-raising stylings of more contemporary acts, including Wolf Alice and The Last Shadow Puppets. Calum started writing music as a teenager. In his early twenties he went on to feature regularly at the Edinburgh Festival as well as supporting original Marillion frontman, Fish on his 2014 UK tour. He moved to the Catalan capital in 2017 and has since built a following in the local music scene. Living abroad has helped Calum to grow as an artist, taking advantage of the wide array of international musicians the city has to offer. His debut album, due to be released in 2021, will feature collaborations with local artists as well as instrumental contributions coming from almost every continent on the globe. If you are looking for music that is as equally insightful as it is rousing, then Calum Busby is someone to definitely keep an eye on.

Emma Elizabeth

Emma Elizabeth a singer songwriter from London currently based in Barcelona has recently come of hiding. After 7 years of not releasing any music, she is finally ready to start sharing her experiences of life with us again.

She says “For me songwriting is a form of therapy. It’s my way of making sense of the world around me. Modern life with its unpredictable situations and unreliable people can be overwhelming at times. Around every corner are new challenges and endless uncertainty; all of which can feel quite painful sometimes. Moments like these can sometimes be better understood or people easier to let go of once you’ve written a song about them.”

Her songs often present an all immersive experience, initially taking inspiration from nature within the song writing and then later through the sounds used or created during the studio recording process.

With songs filled with relatable lyrics that hit you hard accompanied by uplifting seas of vocal harmonies is the perfect mixture for music that takes you on a journey, leaving you feeling lighter than you were at the start.

Gabriel Santiago

Gabriel Santiago is a Mexican-born singer-songwriter and producer with an avant-garde take on pop music and a distinctive point of view on freedom and sexuality. His conceptual songs navigate mental health, political issues and pop culture, told through a glittery and celebratory lens.

Gabriel Santiago gets his roots from 80’s pop stars such as David Bowie, Madonna and Cher. His production style combines classic glam-rock with modern electronic dance to create a unique experience for pop nostalgics.

As a pop culture fanatic, Gabriel aims to push creative boundaries in the mainstream scene and bring back the artistry and campiness of artists like Bowie, Freddy Mercury and Prince, who challenged the normativity in show business. Gabriel aims to transmit a message of creative liberation through makeup, theater and bold fashion.

Hannah Aldridge

With every song, Hannah Aldridge is facing down demons of a life once lived from substance abuse to failed relationships and scars from the lashes of the bible belt.

Raised in the extremely religious State of Alabama, Hannah has since young years felt an affinity to the darkness found in the Southern Gothic themes and has developed a fondness of writing songs with elements of horror brought on by dark thoughts of depression or hopelessness. Finding a calling in exploring these heavy-laden feelings and impulses that we all have, but are typically afraid to indulge in she explains,

“The devil and darkness were always the boogeyman under the bed for me. It still is honestly. So that naturally weaves itself into a lot of songs. I find it extremely fun to sit and think of what type of song I would write for a particular scene in a movie or subjects that really scare me.”

Mixing her personal life and the sounds of her hometown, Hannah takes influences from across the rock genre. Working with one foot in country music and the other in rock has given Aldridge a fresh kind of Southern Rock styled by Southern Gothic storytelling. The honesty she crafts into each track is offset by her stubborn, even defiant, nature, which gives her music a hopeful silver lining.

Hannah is not only a daughter of the American south but also of the Muscle Shoals legend Walt Aldridge. She launched her career with her 2014 debut ‘Razor Wire’ in which she worked with The 400 Unit (Jason Isbell ) and recorded one of his songs on the album alongside Brad Pemberton of The Cardinals (Ryan Adams). The debut-album drew attention of music critics and sent her touring across the world, the live scene really taking a hold of the singer early on seeing as over the last 7 years she’s played in over 10 different countries. Her second full- length album ‘Gold Rush' features Sadler Vaden (Drivin n’ Cryin’ and Jason Isbell ) and was mixed and engineered by Allen Parker, Chief Engineer for Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.

Presenting her new collaboration with the Swedish alternative indie label Icons Creating Evil Art, Hannah is now launching her first ever live-album ‘Live in Black and White’ recorded in London as a statement of her desire to get back to the roots of why she started down this path. While her studio records feature full bands and impressive collaborations this live album narrows in on the heart of the music - Hannah and her guitar, striping the songs down to the raw and intimate sound of when she first wrote them. She tells us, “I start writing with ‘this is how I’m feeling, and I need to talk about it.’ Doing that helps me sort out my own thoughts on it. My music is an introspective look at the things that happened in my life. It’s me trying to sort through and put feelings into words”
